Playing a kinky killer of an Irish-American mafia boss in Boston – his sexo-sinister histrionics professedly a personal contribution to “Marty’s” idea of the villain – Jack Nicholson certainly would not have minded sidling up to Meryl Streep in terms of the number of times of Academy nominations – he at 12, she at 14. A smile that breaks up only at his crow’s-feet, one that could equally pass for impish inane-ness or malicious madness, Jack ought to have been there even if for that one scene where he batters down on Leo’s arm-cast to check for ‘network’ traces, followed by a volte-face apology! Nevertheless, while he’ll be seen cheering the boys at Kodak Theatre, in those trademark dark glasses – one fetish, apart from women – he sure can feel good about pipping the likes of Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood in a recent poll on Sexiest Older Men! But then, it certainly isn't 'As Good As It should have Gotten...'
