In line with his 
engineering instincts, Vikram is a great enthusiast of Marklin train sets and simply loves to collect and setup elaborate layouts of rail tracks. He is also known to be an excellent cook and a great connoisseur of art, theatre and classical music, both western and Indian. His strong family connection is evident from the scores of photographs of the Kirloskar brothers along with their grandfather in his room. An old lathe machine also finds its resting place on a mantle in his room, which we learnt on probing, was in fact the first ever lathe machine designed and produced by the Kirloskar Group.
It was heartening to note how Vikram Kirloskar is painstakingly building the foundations of a manufacturing giant in India with integrity and dedication. This ‘manufacturing maven’ certainly has set himself up for much greater professional achievements. More importantly, his heart is in the right place...
